Quick answer
Use the merchant’s accepted checkout method for a purchase. Use a bank-remittance service when the task is to credit a named recipient’s bank account. BKJ documents both Scan to Pay and personal remittance, but each has separate conditions. Remittance is only a candidate when your account offers the destination and accepts the real recipient and purpose; it is not a workaround for an unsupported merchant code.
Start with where the money must arrive
A restaurant bill and a request to send money to a relative may both show bank information, yet they are not the same payment task. Ask whether the recipient needs a completed merchant order or a bank-account credit. Choose the service that supports that task and the destination’s rules.
| Requirement | BKJ Scan to Pay | BKJ personal remittance |
|---|---|---|
| Payment task | Purchase at a supported merchant | Transfer with an accepted recipient and purpose |
| Recipient information | Merchant payment request | Named recipient and bank-account details |
| Documented funding | USDT or USDC | USDT in the operational guide |
| Completion to look for | Confirmed merchant payment | Credit to the recipient’s bank account |
The Scan to Pay and Global Remittance descriptions both specify local-fiat receipt. Remittance recipients do not need a BKJ account or stablecoins, but they do need a receiving bank account.
For checkout, use the merchant’s supported flow
BKJ’s QR instructions restrict support to platform-certified merchant codes. If the app says the merchant is unsupported, ask for another accepted payment method. A bank-account QR image does not establish that the bill qualifies for personal remittance.
On a supported purchase, compare the VND bill with the stablecoin debit and fees before approval. If the order stays in confirmation, refresh its status or contact the merchant or BKJ support. Paying again through another route can create a second charge while the first remains unresolved.
For remittance, check purpose and amount together
The personal remittance guide requires bank and identity details for the recipient, the remittance purpose and your relationship. Sender information must match the account’s identity verification. Enter the actual details; if the available purposes do not fit, ask the provider before proceeding.
BKJ’s 14 April 2026 fee document lists VND transfers with a USD100-equivalent minimum and a handling fee of 1.10% plus USD10. These terms make this a different proposition from a small shop purchase. The current app must show that VND is available to your account, along with the recipient amount and total debit, before you commit funds.
Complete security verification to submit a qualifying transfer, then track its progress. A submission confirmation is not proof of bank receipt. Delivery depends on the destination and receiving bank, and additional documents may be required.
Local-currency receipt is only one condition
Vietnam does not recognize cryptoassets as lawful payment instruments. Its non-cash payment rules prohibit unlawful instruments, while the State Bank explains the virtual-currency boundary. A recipient receiving VND does not, by itself, establish authorization for the provider or conversion route. Use a route only when its availability and applicable legal conditions are established for your payment.
For an ordinary checkout, keep a card or cash option if BKJ does not support the purchase. For a bank-account request, obtain the recipient details and compare the full remittance quote first. The Vietnam payment guide covers the wider card, cash and QR choice.
