Quick answer
Start with the recorded transaction status. Contact the merchant for a purchase return, the card issuer for an unresolved card dispute, or the payment provider for a pending or technically inconsistent transaction.
Save the receipt, local time, VND amount, account debit and transaction reference before contacting anyone. Do not send a second payment while the first attempt is pending.
Let the status choose the first action
| Recorded status | First action | Avoid |
|---|---|---|
| Successful | Ask the merchant to confirm receipt or start an eligible refund | Paying again |
| Pending | Keep the reference and wait or contact support | Retrying immediately |
| Failed | Check whether any debit occurred, then use a backup | Assuming the merchant was paid |
| Conflicting | Capture payer and merchant records and contact the provider | Relying on a submission screenshot |
The BKJ failed-payment guide puts the recorded status before a retry because premature resubmission can create a duplicate payment.
Use the original payment route
For cash, the merchant controls the commercial refund. For a card purchase, contact the merchant first, then follow the issuer’s dispute process when necessary. For a QR payment, the merchant decides whether the purchase qualifies for return while the provider investigates pending, duplicated or technically inconsistent records.
A Vietnamese bank account is usually not the key requirement. A traceable transaction and an eligible request under the current merchant and provider rules are.
How the BKJ QR refund works
For a completed BKJ QR purchase, ask the merchant to initiate the refund through the original route. Keep the merchant name, VND purchase amount, USDT or USDC debit, time, transaction ID, status screenshot and receipt.
After a successful merchant-initiated refund, the associated BKJ payment fee is returned under the current service guidance. This rule does not automatically return blockchain network charges, stablecoin acquisition costs, merchant fees or other third-party costs.
Contact official support when
- A pending status does not resolve within the window shown for the transaction.
- The merchant cannot reconcile a payment recorded as successful.
- A merchant-confirmed refund does not appear.
- The transaction record and account balance conflict.
- Two debits appear for one intended purchase.
Use an official support channel and provide only the requested transaction details. Never share a password, one-time code or recovery phrase.
Bottom line
Treat transaction history as the source of truth. For an eligible completed-purchase refund, ask the merchant to start the original-route refund. After it succeeds, the associated BKJ payment fee is returned. Capture the evidence before switching to another payment method.
Refund eligibility, timing and third-party costs depend on the merchant, payment rail and current rules.
