Quick answer
A payment app is usable for a foreigner only when the user’s identity document is accepted and at least one permitted funding route works. Foreign-passport support does not automatically mean that an overseas phone number, foreign-issued card or on-chain deposit is accepted.
Check the identity and funding rules as separate fields. Leave any unpublished field as unverified instead of filling the gap with an assumption.
| Field | What to verify | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Identity | Passport country, document type and KYC level | Registration can stop before funding |
| Phone | Supported country code and SMS access | Login and security codes may depend on it |
| Card funding | Card type, issuer country and authentication | A linked card may still fail funding |
| Crypto funding | Supported asset, chain and address | Wrong networks can cause loss or delay |
| Merchant payment | QR type and confirmation screen | Funding success does not prove acceptance |
Passport acceptance is only the first gate
An official FAQ may state whether foreign passports can be used, but actual approval can still depend on document quality, nationality, account information and risk controls. MoMo’s published verification material should be read together with its current in-app process.
Do not rewrite ‘no local bank account’ as ‘no account needed’. Payment apps still apply registration, identity and transaction controls.
International funding has several meanings
International debit-card funding, a bank transfer and a crypto deposit are different rails. Confirm each rail separately, including issuer restrictions, authentication and supported assets or chains.
BKJ’s relevant route is a verified account funded with supported USDT or USDC. Users must use the official deposit instructions and leave sufficient balance for the payment shown at confirmation.
Publish a dated eligibility record
A useful comparison records the page checked, date, account region and exact field confirmed. Marketing language such as ‘global’ should not replace a list of operational conditions.
Recheck KYC, funding and QR support before publication and before travel. If the App does not show the expected feature for the actual account, treat it as unavailable until official support confirms otherwise.
What to do next
Treat foreign-passport support, funding and merchant payment as three separate gates. An app belongs on a travel plan only after the actual account passes all three.
